- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [31.74](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2122.31.74)

> In the Zhou dynasty, Zhongni said to Ji Huanzi: 'I have heard that the anomalies of wood and stone are the kui and the wangliang.' (Wei Zhao's commentary says: 'Wood and stone refers to mountains. The kui has one foot; the people of Yue call it the mountain xiao, or say it is single-footed. The wangliang is a mountain spirit that likes to mimic human voices and delude people.') The above is from the Guoyu. The Shiji states: First Emperor of Qin said, 'Mountain ghosts know nothing beyond the events of a single year.'
