> Grand Marshal Huan Wen of the Jin, in his later years, quite revered the Dharma and offered meals to nuns. There was a bhikṣuṇī whose name was lost, who came from afar to rely on Wen as her dānapati. Her talents and conduct were unusual. Wen treated her with great respect and lodged her within his gates. Whenever the nun bathed, she would invariably take a long time. Wen grew suspicious and peeked at her, seeing the nun naked, brandishing a knife, cutting open her belly, and taking out her viscera, then chopping off her head, hacking her limbs, and slicing her flesh into minced pieces. Wen was terrified and returned. Shortly after, the nun emerged from the bathhouse with her body as normal. Wen questioned her with the truth. The nun answered, 'If you usurped your lord and sovereign, your form would be like this.' At the time, Wen was plotting to usurp the throne; hearing this, he became dispirited. Hence, out of caution and fear, he maintained the loyalty of a minister to the end. Later, the nun bid farewell and departed, and none knew where she went.
