> In the north are seven lunar mansions: the first is Dou (Uttara Ashadha), which governs the country of Kamboja. The second is Niu (Abhijit), which governs kṣatriyas and the country of Andhabhaga. The third is Nü (Shravana), which governs the countries of Aṅga and Magadha. The fourth is Xu (Shatabhisha), which governs the country of Nacira. The fifth is Wei (Dhanishta), which governs those wearing flower crowns. The sixth is Shi (Purva Bhadrapada), which governs the countries of Gandhāra and Śroṇa, and all kinds of crawling dragons and snakes. The seventh is Bi (Uttara Bhadrapada), which governs gandharvas who are skilled in music. O Virtuous Bhagavān, in the past the divine ṛṣis thus arranged the mansions of the four directions to protect the realms and nurture sentient beings.'
