> In the Liang dynasty, at Qijian Temple in Fuyang, there was Shi Daolin. He was originally a native of Shanyin in Kuaiji. He left household life at an early age and possessed pure moral conduct. He was proficient in the Nirvāṇa Sūtra and the Lotus Sūtra, and chanted the Vimalakīrti-nirdeśa Sūtra. Zhang Xu of the state of Wu paid homage and served him. Later, he resided at the Quanlin Temple in Fuyang County. The temple regularly suffered from demonic and spectral infestations, but ever since Daolin lived there, they ceased. When Daolin's disciple Huishao was crushed by a building and his head sank into his chest, Daolin prayed and made supplications for Shao. That night, Shao saw two foreign monks pull his head out. When he arose in the morning, he had completely recovered. Daolin thereupon established a feast for the holy monk, spreading fresh white silk over the bed. When the feast was over, footprints were seen on the silk, all over three feet long. Everyone bowed before his sympathetic resonance. From then on, households in Fuyang began establishing seats for the holy monk to offer food. In the early Liang dynasty, Daolin moved to reside at Qihe Temple. He died in the eighteenth year of the Tianjian reign at seventy-two years of age. (The above one verification is taken from the Liang Gaoseng zhuan.)
