- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [44.10](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2122.44.10)

> Furthermore, the Benevolent King Sūtra says: “Kings and ministers, relying on their own nobility, destroy and ruin my Dharma. Establishing regulatory laws, they constrain my disciples: forbidding them from leaving home, forbidding them from making Buddha images, establishing administrative officials and institutional registries to record the monks, causing monks to stand on the ground while laypeople sit on high seats. Furthermore, kings and crown princes arbitrarily enact statutory regulations that do not accord with the Buddha's teachings, giving rise to conditions that break the Saṃgha. With administrative officials controlling the monks and managing the monastic registers, keeping them in harsh constraint, the Buddha-Dharma will not last long.”
