- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [44.44](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2122.44.44)

> Zhuang Ziyi, a minister of Yan, was blameless, yet Duke Jian executed him. Ziyi said, "If the dead have no consciousness, then let it rest; but if they do have consciousness, within not more than three years I will surely let my lord know of it." In one full year, Duke Jian sacrificed at Zuze. Yan having Zuze was like Song having Sanglin; it was the state's great sacrifice. Men and women watched as Ziyi arose from the left side of the road, carrying a red staff, and struck the Duke. The Duke died in his carriage.
