> When a person possesses the practice of faith, / They are praised by the noble ones. / Those who delight in the unconditioned / Are liberated from all bonds. / Compared with worldly gain, / Wisdom and faith are illumination; / They are the supreme treasure among wealth, / While household property is impermanent. / Wishing to see the true ones, / Delighting in listening to expositions of the Dharma, / Able to renounce stinginess and jealousy: / This is what is called faith. / Without faith, one does not train, / Fond of refuting upright words; / Like an inept person drawing water, / Who digs a well and stirs up mud. / The worthy person cultivates wisdom, / Delighting in looking up to purity; / Like one who draws water skillfully, / It is surely cold and undisturbed. / Faith is not stained by others; / Nothing is like this vehicle. / Just as a great elephant is tamed, / Self-taming is supreme. / The wealth of faith, the wealth of morality, / Moral shame and remorse are also wealth; / The wealth of hearing, the wealth of giving, / And wisdom constitute the seven wealths. / If one possesses this wealth in life, / Regardless of male or female, / They will ultimately be free of greed; / The wise person recognizes truth.
