> Furthermore, as stated in the Mahāprajñāpāramitā-śāstra: The ṛṣi Udraka attained the five supernormal powers and flew every day to the king's palace to eat. The king's principal consort, according to the custom of that country, held his feet in veneration; when the consort's hand touched him, he immediately lost his supernormal powers. Requesting a chariot from the king, he rode out and returned to his original place. Entering the forest, he sought the five supernormal powers again. When birds chirped loudly and disturbed his mind, he abandoned the trees and went to the water's edge to seek concentration. Then he heard the sound of fish fighting and stirring the water. Unable to attain dhyāna, this man immediately gave rise to anger: "I shall kill all the fish and birds!" Long afterward, through contemplation he attained concentration and was born in the sphere of neither-perception-nor-non-perception. When his lifespan there was exhausted, he was reborn below as a flying civet, killing various fish and birds, committing measureless sins, and falling into the three evil destinies. It also states: There was a monk who sat and attained the four dhyānas; conceiving excessive arrogance, he claimed to have attained arhatship. Relying on this, he stopped and no longer sought progress. When his life was about to end, he saw the intermediate-existence signs of the fourth dhyāna arrive, and thereupon gave rise to wrong views, saying: "There is no nirvāṇa; the Buddha deceived me!" Because an evil wrong view arose, he immediately lost the intermediate existence of the fourth dhyāna, and saw the signs of the intermediate existence of the Avīci hell, of Niraya, arrive. When his life ended, he was immediately born in the Avīci hell. The Buddha spoke a verse for his sake, saying:
