### [56.18](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2122.56.18)

> Wang Wendu of the Jin was garrisoning Guangling. Suddenly he saw two runners holding wooden tablets with swan-head decorations coming to summon him. Wang Wen was greatly startled and asked the runners, "What office am I to hold?" The runners said, "Your Honor is to be General Who Pacifies the North and Inspector of the two provinces of Xu and Yan." Wang said, "I have already held this office; why summon me again?" The ghosts said, "That was only in the human world; what you are to take up now is an office in heaven." Wang was terrified. Soon he saw the officers welcoming him: dark-robed men and petty clerks in swan garments were very numerous. Wang soon fell ill and died. (The one verification above is from the Youming lu.)
