> Liezi states: "In the time of King Mu of Zhou, a transformed person (that is, an illusionist) came from the Western Extremity. He entered water and fire, penetrated metal and stone, turned over mountains and rivers, moved walled cities, rode upon emptiness without falling, and collided with solid matter without obstruction. His thousand changes and myriad transformations could not be exhausted. Not only could he alter the forms of things, but he could also change the thoughts of men (he was able to cause people to temporarily forget what they had previously known). King Mu revered him like a spirit."
