> Ge You of the Former Zhou was a Qiang person of Shu. In the time of King Cheng of Zhou, he was fond of carving wooden sheep and selling them. One morning, he rode a wooden sheep into Shu. The princes and nobles of Shu pursued him up Mount Sui. Mount Sui lies southwest of Emei, boundlessly high. Those who followed him never returned; all attained the way of immortals. Hence the local saying went: “To obtain a single peach from Mount Sui: though one cannot become an immortal, it is enough to make one powerful.” At the foot of the mountain, shrines were erected in several dozen places (seen in Soushen ji).
