> In the seventh year of the Guanghe reign era of the Han, within the borders of Yuanju and Liqi in Dong Commandery of Chenliu, Jiyin, grasses grew in the shape of humans holding weapons and crossbows. The black and white marks corresponding to oxen, horses, dragons, snakes, birds, and beasts each matched their respective colours, with feathers, fur, heads, eyes, feet, and wings all complete. They were not merely vague resemblances; the likenesses were extraordinarily distinct. An old tradition says: 'This is close to being a plant portent.' In that year, the Yellow Turban rebels arose, and the Han consequently grew feeble and weak. In the sixth month of the first year of the Wufeng reign era of Wu, the barnyard grass in Jiaozhi transformed into rice.
