> When Zhuge Ke was Governor of Danyang, he went hunting between two mountains. There was a creature resembling a small child that reached out its hand wishing to pull people along. Ke ordered it to stretch forth and leave its native ground; once it left its native ground, it died. When he sat with his attendants, they asked the reason, taking it to be a spirit. Ke said, "This matter is in the Baize tu: 'Between two mountains, its essence resembles a small child; seeing people, it stretches out its hand wishing to pull them; its name is the Siyin; once it departs, it dies.' Do not think it a spirit and marvel at it; you gentlemen simply happened not to have seen it before." (The above two cases are from the Soushen ji.)
