> Question: How does one stay far away from divisive speech? Answer: Divisive speech has seven aspects: first, giving rise to an unwholesome intention; second, the real or false; third, an intent to destroy; fourth, an intention to first break harmony; fifth, action; sixth, the characteristic of inaction; seventh, the characteristic of non-action. These are called the vocal karma of divisive speech (these seven are easy to understand and need not be elaborated).
