> Moreover, the Upāsakaśīla-sūtra says: If, good man, there is a person who does not understand such karmic conditions, they will wander through birth and death for immeasurable lifetimes. Even if they are born in the sphere of neither-perception-nor-non-perception with a lifespan of eighty thousand kalpas, when their merits are exhausted they fall back into the three evil destinies. Therefore the Buddha told the good man: Of all painters, none surpasses the mind. The mind paints afflictions, afflictions paint karma, and karma paints the physical body.
