> Furthermore, when that egg-born garuḍa bird king wishes to seize an egg-born nāga, he flies immediately onto the eastern branches of the great Kuṭaśālmali tree. Having observed the water of the great ocean, he then flies down, and fanning the ocean water with both wings, causes the water to part two hundred yojanas of itself; then within it he takes an egg-born nāga in his beak and carries it out beyond the ocean to eat at his pleasure. The egg-born garuḍa bird king is able to take only egg-born nāgas and the like, and cannot take womb-born, moisture-born, or apparitionally born nāgas. If the womb-born garuḍa bird king wishes to take an egg-born nāga, he returns toward the ocean east of the tree to take it.
