> As the Ruiying jing states: at that very time, the various Śākya clansmen also gave birth on the same day to five hundred male children. The Xiuxing benqi jing states: throughout the country, eighty-four thousand elders gave birth to children who were all male. Eighty-four thousand mares in the stables gave birth to foals. One among them was extraordinary, its coat pure white, its mane and tail adorned as if strung with pearls; therefore it was named Kanthaka. The servant was named Chanda.
