> Furthermore, the Ratnarāśi Sūtra states: 'If a bhikṣu who breaks the precepts receives homage and offerings from one who maintains the precepts, not recognizing his own evil, he will incur eight light states. What are the eight? First, he becomes foolish. Second, his mouth becomes dumb. Third, he receives a stunted and ugly body. Fourth, his facial features are hideous and his face is twisted, laughed at by all who see him. Fifth, he is reborn in a female body as a poor maidservant. Sixth, his form is emaciated and his lifespan cut short. Seventh, people do not respect him and he constantly has an evil reputation. Eighth, he will not encounter the era of a Buddha.'
