At that time, an Ājīvika non-Buddhist renunciant was also living in that forest, neighboring the Venerable One. Not far from the forest, in the various villages and towns, a four-month festival gathering was occasionally held on a grand scale. At that time, that non-Buddhist went around the villages and towns, gorging himself on pork and indulging freely in drinking liquor. He secretly carried what remained back to the forest.
