> In front of Ānanda's room there was also a bronze chime (qìng) that could hold five pints. Around the four sides of the chime were engraved texts of past Buddhas instructing their disciples. On its suspension lug, purple-polished gold formed the shape of nine dragons, with a figure of a celestial standing on its back. When struck with a mallet, its sound shook the three thousand \[worlds\], and within the sound it also spoke the Dharma of the Buddhas' admonitions to their disciples. This chime was made by King Brahmā. When the Buddha entered extinction, the dragon king Sāgara also gathered it into his ocean palace.
