> A boat and rudder for river routes, / Ferriage to the other shore; / If you wish to transcend birth and death, / First supply yourself with merit and wisdom. / The mirror illuminates the three wheels; / The jewel clarifies the six veils. / In driving, it serves as the bridle; / For gold, it is the whetstone. / Surpassing the footsteps of the Flowing Water; / Matching the reins of the grass-tied \[monk\]. / The five patiences must be ascended; / The four exertions must not falter. / The waves of the mind are thoroughly pure; / The dust of passions is swept away. / The path of karma once leveled, / The bodhimaṇḍa is thereby reached.
