> "The five desires darken the conscious spirit;
> the five hindrances obscure the power of merit.
> The six sense faculties become the accumulation of suffering;
> the six thieves disrupt mind and form.
> The waves of desire drift along with passions;
> the net of craving weaves following the mind.
> The three poisons obstruct \[realization of\] the emptiness of persons;
> the four floods drift on without rest.
> Though the supreme gold endures past autumn,
> cutting the tallies has not yet reached the end.
> Since observing the pigeon is boundless,
> how can the monkey's climbing here be subdued?
> Unless one cuts off the hindrance of desires,
> how could one ascend far away?
> With equal steps reaching the Jeweled City,
> together we behold the virtue of the Benevolent One."
