> Third: desiring to seek longevity and dwell in the world without end, yet encountering illness and death. Life being very short, one harbors concerns for ten thousand years; with little life and many worries, one fails to perceive impermanence. Giving free rein to the five desires, letting the mind wander in indulgence, killing, stealing, debauchery, duplicity, harsh speech, false speech, frivolous speech, greed, jealousy, and wrong views; being unfilial to parents, disobedient to teachers and friends, slighting elders, acting rebelliously and immorally, longing for power and wealth and thinking one can endure forever; deriding and slandering the noble path, peerless in wickedness, sighing at heaven and walking alone, yearning for worldly glory, not understanding the origin of heaven and earth, interior and exterior, not distinguishing the compound of the four great elements and conditions—like an illusionist, failing to comprehend the world that has arisen from past to present, refusing guidance, not knowing where birth comes from and where death returns to, keeping heaven and earth in mind and thinking, "This is my possession." When the retribution of impermanence arrives like wind blowing clouds, while hoping and thinking of long life, one's life suddenly ends, devoid of autonomy. To wish it were not so is utterly impossible.'
