> Furthermore, the Sūtra of the Twelve Links of Dependent Origination states: There are eight persons for whom stupas may be erected: first, the Tathāgata; second, a bodhisattva; third, a pratyekabuddha; fourth, an arhat; fifth, an anāgāmin; sixth, a sakṛdāgāmin; seventh, a srotāpanna; eighth, a cakravartin. If a stupa is erected for a cakravartin or below, a single dew-basin is installed, and upon seeing it, one must not bow to it, because it is not a stupa of a sage. For the first fruit, two dew-basins are used, up to eight dew-basins for the Tathāgata. Those with eight basins or more are all stupas of Buddhas.
