> The classics say: Zhongni (Confucius) stated, "Only petty persons and women are difficult to rear; if you become close to them, they are insolent, and if you keep them at a distance, they resent it." Therefore, the scriptures state that bewitching women possess eighty-four traits, of which there are eight great traits despised by the wise: the first is jealousy; the second is baseless anger; the third is reviling; the fourth is cursing; the fifth is hexing; the sixth is stinginess and greed; the seventh is fondness for ornamentation; the eighth is harboring malice. These are the eight great traits. Therefore, women possess many bewitching wiles; may they abandon flattery and perversity to seek the true Dharma, and soon leave the household life to benefit themselves and benefit others.
