> The text of the great precepts had already reached Xuchang in the third year of the Huangchu reign of the Cao Wei (renyin). Because the state was occupied with many affairs, it lay dormant for thirty-three years until the Deposed Emperor (that is, Duke of Gaogui Township) ascended the throne and changed the reign title to the first year of Zhengyuan (jiaxu). The Indian Vinaya Master Dharmakāla submitted a memorial, and only then did the matter of receiving the precepts commence (calculating back to when the Buddha's Dharma first arrived in the tenth year of Yongping of the Later Han, dingmao, one hundred and seventy-eight years had elapsed; all who left household life had received only the three refuges).
