> Two forms (二儀: \[儀 is pronounced with\] the fanqie yu-ji \[yí\]. The upper 'Appended Remarks' of the Book of Changes states: 'In the Changes there is the Great Ultimate, which generates the Two Forms.' Gu Yewang says: 'The Two Forms refer to Heaven and Earth; they are models.' The Mao Commentary to the Classic of Poetry states: 'Yi means correct.' The Shuowen says: 'A measure; it derives from the person \[radical\] with the sound yi.' The Shuowen also explains that the character yi derives from sheep and wo; the character wo derives from hand and dagger-axe. Those written with grain beneath are incorrect. Ji has the fanqie sound ju-yi \[jī\]).
