> 鉆拔 Pincers pulling out: (The first character has the fanqie 強廉 \[qián\]. The Kaosheng says: "Iron tweezers"; 銸 has the fanqie 女輒 \[niè\], referring to using iron tweezers to clamp and extract things. In the sūtra text, it is written with 甘 as 鉗, which is an erroneous substitution, for that denotes an iron collar or cangue for the neck. The second character has the fanqie 辨八 \[bá\]. The Kaosheng says: "拔 means to draw out." Gu Yewang says: "To pull and take out." The Guangya says: "To come out." The Shuowen says: "To draw out." It takes 手 as semantic and 犮 as phonetic. 犮 has the fanqie 盤末 \[bá\]; the Shuowen says it is the sound of a dog running).
