黿鼉（上音元說文大鼈也從黽元聲下徒何反說文水介蟲也似蜴蜥而大從黽𠹈聲音𠹈那說文𠹈字從叩從里經文從𠫹非近黽音猛俗用黿鼉二字並從黽非也）。

> 黿鼉 (The upper character is pronounced yuan2. The Shuowen jiezi says: 'A large soft-shell turtle; formed from 黽 with 元 as phonetic.' The lower character is pronounced tuo2 \[tu-he fan\]. The Shuowen jiezi says: 'An aquatic shelled creature, resembling a lizard but larger; formed from 黽 with 𠹈 as phonetic.' The pronunciation of 𠹈 is tuo2. The Shuowen jiezi states that the character 𠹈 is formed from 叩 and 里. The sūtra text writes it with 𠫹, which is incorrect. 黽 is pronounced meng3. The vulgar usage of writing both 黿 and 鼉 with 黽 is incorrect).
