- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [16.22](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2128.16.22)

花鬘（馬班反假借字也本音彌然反今借為鬘花鬘者西方嚴身具也以線貫穿草木時花暈以五色無問男女加於身首以為嚴飾猶如綬帶）。

> 花鬘 (Huāmán, flower garland: \[the second character has the\] fanqie Ma-ban \[mán\]. It is a phonetic loan character; its original sound was the fanqie Mi-ran \[mián\], but it is now borrowed for mán. A flower garland is an ornament for adornment of the body in the Western regions: seasonal flowers of herbs and trees are strung together with thread into five-coloured bands; regardless of whether male or female, they are placed upon the body and head as adornments, just like ribbon-sashes).
