爆裂（上包皃反廣雅云爆猶熱也考聲云燒柴竹作聲也說文從火暴聲下連哲反廣雅云裂分也顧野王裂猶折破也說文從衣列聲或作列經從力作裂是\[厂@((厥-厂)/力)\]也\[厂@((厥-厂)/力)\]猶強也非經義也）。

> Bursting and tearing (爆裂: the first character is pronounced 包 + 皃 \[bào\]. The Guangya says: '爆 is like scorching heat.' The Kaosheng says: 'The sound produced by burning firewood or bamboo.' The Shuowen says: 'It derives from 火 \[fire\] with 暴 as phonetic.' The second character is pronounced 連 + 哲 \[liè\]. The Guangya says: '裂 means parting.' Gu Yewang says: '裂 is like tearing and breaking.' The Shuowen says: 'It derives from 衣 \[garment\] with 列 as phonetic; sometimes written as 列.' In the sūtra text it is written with 力 \[force\] as 裂 \[i.e., 厥 with 力, 劂/劐 variant\]; this is \[厂@((厥-厂)/力)\], which means strong, and is not the intended meaning in the sūtra).
