> Ignorant and dull (𱞿鈍; the first character is \[pronounced with the\] fanqie méng + \[k\]ǒng. The Kaosheng says: “𱞿 is like unintelligent. It takes xīn ‘heart’ as semantic classifier and méng as phonetic.” The character méng takes bāo and shǐ as components. The scripture writes it as 蒙 or 𭞾, both of which are vulgar characters. The second character is \[pronounced with the\] fanqie tú + \[d\]ùn. Ru Chun's commentary to the Shiji says: “Dùn is like obstinate and blunt, having no sharp corners.” The Cangjiepian says: “Dùn means obstinate.” The Shenglei says: “Dùn means not sharp.” The Shuowen says: “It takes jīn ‘metal’ as semantic classifier and tún as phonetic.” Tún is \[pronounced with the\] fanqie tú + \[h\]ún).
