> Surpassing the king (𨀗王: the first character has the fanqie ku\[ā\] + \[h\]uà; Jia's commentary on the Guoyu says: "Ku (𨀗) is like walking around." The Kaosheng says: "To sit back." The Shuowen says: "To cross over"; it has the foot radical and the phonetic kua (𡗢); 𡗢 has the fanqie k\[ǒu\] + \[g\]uǎ; it is composed of big and 𡇡; 𡇡 has the same sound as above. Writing it with the yu radical as 跨 is incorrect; that has the fanqie k\[ū\] + \[h\]ù, meaning to straddle, which is not the canonical meaning. The second character, wang (王), is pronounced in the falling tone; the Shuowen says: "He to whom all under Heaven turn").
