> Magadha (摩竭提: also written 摩竭陀, or said as 默偈陀, or again written 摩伽陀; all are corrupt transliterations of the Sanskrit. The correct term is Magadha \[摩揭陀\]. Translated here, it is called the Country of Superior Excellence, or the Country of Non-Harm. One explanation states that Maghā is the name of a nakṣatra, translated here as "not bad", presiding over the twelfth solar day, and dha means "place"; hence it is named "the Country of the Not-Bad Place", also called "the Country of the Nakṣatra's Place". 揭 is \[pronounced\] jie \[qu + ye fan\]).
