> Garuḍa (迦樓羅: or called Garuḍa \[揭路茶\]. It translates here as 'eating, vomiting, and sorrowful cries', meaning that whenever this bird captures a nāga, it first places it into its crop, and when it vomits it back up to eat it, the nāga is still alive and at that moment utters sorrowful cries in severe pain. Or it is called 'bird with a great crop-neck', meaning that because this bird constantly stores nāgas in its crop, its neck grows thick. The older translations as 'Golden-Winged' \[金翅\] or 'Wondrous-Winged' \[妙翅\] merely named it after its appearance and are not exact translations. Moreover, its wings possess various jewel colors, not only gold).
