> Lion-stretch samādhi (師子頻申三昧: Du Yu's commentary on the Zuozhuan says: '頻申 means opening and stretching.' When the four limbs are cramped, it is the means to relieve fatigue; hence it is called yawning and stretching. This symbolizes that this samādhi can stretch freely within the unhindered Dharma realm, liberating beings from obstacles, cramping, and fatigue; hence the metaphoric name. Alternatively, it may be entirely Sanskrit, as noted in the Kanding ji).
