枉死（上汪往反考聲云枉失理也詘也古今字邪曲也從木王聲古文作枉下死字說文澌也人所離也言人神識化往而不返遺殘體骨故從歺從化省會意字也）。

> 枉死 (\*wǎngsǐ\*, wrongful death; the upper character has the fanqie 汪往 \[\*wāng\* + \*wǎng\*\]. The \*Kaosheng\* says: "\*Wǎng\* means losing reason; to be bent." The \*Gujiin zì\* says: "Crooked and perverse; it is composed of 木 with 王 as phonetic." In ancient script it is written as 枉. For the lower character 死, the \*Shuowen\* says: "\*Sǐ\* means vanished; that which man departs from." It refers to the human consciousness transforming and passing away without returning, leaving behind the remnants of the body and bones; hence it is composed of 歺 and 化 abbreviated, being an associative compound).
