> Abundant harvest (豐稔): The upper character has the fanqie \*fū\* + \*fēng\* (豐); it is the standard character. The \*Zhouli\* says: 'Abundant means large.' The \*Guoyu\* says: 'Flourishing.' The \*Shuowen \[jiezi\]\* says: 'A full ceremonial vessel (豆); derived from 豆 as a pictograph, with two 丰 and 山豆.' The scripture writes it with 曲 as 豊, which is a vulgar character; 丰 has the same pronunciation. The lower character has the fanqie \*rèn\* + \*zhěn\* (稔). Jia \[Kui\]'s commentary on the \*Guoyu\* says: 'Ripe.' The \*Shuowen \[jiezi\]\* says: 'When grain is ripe it is called \*rěn\*. Derived from 禾 with 念; an ideographic compound.'
