> 獷戾 \[Fierce and intractable\] (The upper character is fanqie 虢 + 猛 \[guǎng\]. As for 獷, it means unruly, bad, and impetuous. The Shuowen jiezi says: 'It has the radical 犬 and the phonetic 廣.' Impetuous \[躁\] has the sound 竈 \[zào\]. The lower character is fanqie 梨 + 帝 \[lì\]. The Guangya says: '戾 means resentful.' The posthumous name rules state: 'Not regretting former transgressions is called 戾; lacking compassionate love is called 戾.' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'Crooked; it depicts a dog issuing from beneath a hole, its body crooked and bent.' In the scripture it is written with the heart radical as 悷, which is a vulgar character).
