The first character has the fanqie jing + jin (jìn). Gu Yewang says: '𣹰 means to soak; to submerge.' The \*Shuowen\* writes it with the 'hand' (又) and 'cave' (穴) as 䆮; modern vulgar usage abbreviates it. The \*Gujin zhengzi\* writes it with the 'water' (水) semantic and \[浸-(冗-几)+田\]. The second character is pronounced lu (lù). Gu Yewang says: 'Lu means to drain and remove water.' The \*Erya\* says: 'To exhaust.' The \*Fangyan\* says: 'To dry up; to bring to an end.' The \*Guangya\* says: 'To exhaust.' Both are phono-semantic compound characters.
