上𦠍（昂各反考聲從肉作𦠍經文從齒作\[齒\*(遻-(這-言))\]俗字也說文作谷音強各反口上河也象其文理也古文本無此字先賢隨俗語書出或從肉從齒皆非正相傳共用音五各反古云尒）。

> 上𦠍 (pronounced \*\[ǎng\] + g\[è\]\* fanqie. The Kaosheng writes it with the flesh radical as 𦠍. The sūtra text writes it with the tooth radical as \[齒\*(遻-(這-言))\], which is a popular character. The Shuowen gives 谷, pronounced \*qi\[áng\] + g\[è\]\* fanqie, meaning the palate in the upper part of the mouth, picturing its patterning. In ancient texts this character did not originally exist; earlier worthies wrote it according to vernacular speech, either with the flesh radical or with the tooth radical, neither of which is orthodox. By conventional usage, it is pronounced \*w\[ǔ\] + g\[è\]\* fanqie; anciently it was pronounced so).
