(The upper character is pronounced with the fanqie 民畢 \[mì\]. The Picang says: "櫁 is the name of a fragrant wood." Note: The mī-wood resembles white sandalwood and can be used to extract perfume. In all cases one must fell the wood in advance, and only after a long time will the fragrance come forth. An inscription says: 'The mī-wood is a very large tree; if one wishes to obtain its fragrance, it must span years.' The Wenzidian shuo also says: 'A fragrant wood. Analyzed as semantic 木 and phonetic 蜜.' The sūtra text writes it with 必 as 榓, which is also commonly accepted in vulgar usage.)
