> 湫所 (The upper character is pronounced with the fanqie 酒猶 \[jiǔ\]. Note: A 湫 is a great dragon pool, mostly situated in mountain forests, hills, and ravines, where collapsed cliffs dam up the valleys to form large, deep pools. It is a deep abyss where dragon deities dwell, which neither humans nor beasts dare disturb. When prayed to, it responds miraculously, at times stirring winds and thunder or bringing down timely, sweet rains to moisten the fields and crops. Examples include the Yaonan Pool in Binzhou of the Qin Mountains, the Yangban Pool in Yunyang, and the Nantan Ravine Pool, and such pools exist in mountain forests everywhere.)
