> Mounds and knolls (堆阜: for the first character, fanqie dū-léi. The Kaosheng says: "The appearance of raised earth." The Picang says: "An accumulation of earth." The Shuowen jiezi says: "A small mound; composed of the earth radical with the phonetic zhuī (隹)." In the sūtra text, writing it with shí (十) as 準 is incorrect. It is sometimes written as 雁, an ancient character; and sometimes as 塠, a vulgar character. For the second character, fanqie fú-yǒu, a dialectal sound of Wu and Chu; the Yunying pronunciation gives fú-wǔ fanqie. The Shuowen jiezi says: "A vast plateau. A mountain without stones is called a fù (阜)." In ancient script it is written as 𨸏, a pictographic character).
