寂寥（上情歷反俗字也說文正作𡧯無人聲也從宀從戚省聲也或從言作𧧌下歷彫反說文闕古今正字𡧯寥音深遠無人聲也從宀翏聲翏從蓼省宀音綿尗音叔從戚省也）。

> Solitary and desolate (寂寥: the first character is pronounced \[情 + 歷\] j-ì \[jì\]; it is a vulgar graph. The Shuowen gives the correct form as 𡧯, meaning no human sound. It derives from 宀 with a reduced form of 戚 as phonetic. It is also written with 言 as 𧧌. The second character is pronounced \[歷 + 彫\] l-iáo \[liáo\]. It is missing from the Shuowen. The Gujin zhengzi says: "𡧯寥 (jiliao) means profound, vast, and without human sound. It derives from 宀 with 翏 as phonetic; 翏 is a reduction of 蓼." 宀 is pronounced 綿 \[mián\]; 尗 is pronounced 叔 \[shū\], being a reduced form of 戚).
