依著（上倚希反王肅注尚書云依助也毛詩傳依倚也箋云依之言愛也說文從人衣聲經從犬作猗案說文犗犬也與經義殊乖音界下文略反）。

> 依著 \[Rely upon and cling to\] (the first character is pronounced with the fanqie yǐ + xī \[yī\]. Wang Su's commentary on the Book of Documents states: "Yī means to assist." The commentary to the Mao Classic of Poetry states: "Yī means to rely on." The gloss states: "To speak of yī means to love." The Shuowen states: "It takes 'rén' (人) as its semantic classifier and 'yī' (衣) as its phonetic component." The sūtra text writes it with 'quǎn' (犬) as '猗'; examining the Shuowen, that means a castrated dog, which is completely contrary to the meaning in the sūtra; it is pronounced like jiè \[jiè\]. The second character is pronounced with the fanqie wén + lüè \[wò\]).
