> 胃膽脾 (stomach, gall bladder, and spleen; the first character is pronounced with the fanqie 韋 and 貴 \[=wèi\]. The Baihu tong says: 'The stomach is the receptacle of the spleen.' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'The receptacle of grain; pictographic.' In the sūtra it is written as 𦝩, which is an error. The middle character is pronounced with the fanqie 檐 and 敢 \[=dǎn\]. The Baihu tong says: 'The gall bladder is the receptacle of the liver.' The Wenzidian says it takes 肉 as semantic component and 詹 as phonetic component. The third character is pronounced with the fanqie 婢 and 卑 \[=pí\]. The Baihu tong says: 'It distinguishes; it is the earth organ.' The Guangya says: '脾 means 卑.' The Wenzidian and Shuowen jiezi state that it takes 肉 as semantic component and 卑 as phonetic component).
