> Standard model (揆模: the first character has the fanqie 葵癸反; the Mao commentary on the Shijing states: "Kui (揆) means to measure (度);" 度 has the fanqie 徒各反. The Guiyuan zhucong states: "To deliberate and measure in affairs is called kui." The second character has the fanqie 莫胡反; the Zilin states: "Mu (模) means standard/model." The character takes the wood radical with 莫 as phonetic. The Kaosheng states: "Mo means form; it means a standard model." Character glossaries state: "Pattern." Some write it with the hand radical (扌, sound 手) as 摸, meaning to take by grasping; that is not the meaning here. It is also written as 㷻 or 㷻, both of which are ancient graphs).
