脾膽（上音毘土之精色黃說文云木藏也從肉卑聲王氏脉經云脾主脣也下都敢反白虎通云膽者肝之府也肝主仁是以仁者必有勇故知肝之府也脉决云膽之有病精神不守）。

> Spleen and gall bladder (脾膽): The first character is pronounced like 毘; it is the essence of earth and yellow in colour. The Shuowen says: 'The wood organ. It derives from 肉 with 卑 providing the phonetic.' Master Wang's Maijing says: 'The spleen governs the lips.' The second character is read with the fanqie 都 + 敢. The Bohu tong says: 'The gall bladder is the receptacle of the liver. The liver governs humaneness; thus one who is humane necessarily possesses courage—hence we know it is the receptacle of the liver.' The Maijue says: 'When the gall bladder is diseased, the vital essence and spirit are not preserved.'
