脚跟（上脚字說文從肉從尸谷聲也音渠略反從重人從口論從月從去作脚非也下艮痕反釋名足後臼跟說文足踵也從足艮聲）。

> Heel of the foot (脚跟: for the first character 脚 \[jiǎo\], the Shuowen states it is composed of 'flesh' \[肉\], 'corpse' \[尸\], with 'valley' \[谷\] phonetic; its pronunciation has the fanqie q\[ú\] + \[lüè\]. With doubled 'person' \[从\] and 'mouth' \[口\] it forms another variant; the treatise has it composed of 'flesh/moon' \[月\] and 'to go' \[去\] forming 脚, which is nonstandard. The second character has the fanqie g\[èn\] + \[h\]én. The Shiming states: "The socket behind the foot is the 跟 (gēn)." The Shuowen says: "The heel of the foot. It is composed of 'foot' \[足\] with 艮 phonetic").
